Now, behind this curtain, is the Holy of Holies…. Here is where the presence of God dwelt…. Like a pillar of fire at night and a cloud during the day…. The Glory Cloud of the Lord (the Shekinah Glory) Overshadowed the Tent of Meeting… and the Glory of the Lord filled the Tabernacle… His presence was in there, on the Mercy Seat and the Ark of the Covenant, which you will see in a minute…. His power is so strong, and His presence so awesome, and His Righteousness so incredible... that if we were to enter there, without being cleansed by the perfect Lamb of God, we would die….
The High Priest went into the Holy of Holies only Once a Year… on the Day of Atonement… (Some say that he wore bells on his robe, and a rope tied around his ankle, in case he went in unworthily, and died… the other priests could pull him out…)
Look at the word Atonement… At-One-Men-t…. at one, men, and then there is a t, (a cross,) at one, men and God…. That’s what atonement means; God and Man being brought together… Reconciliation….
On the day of Atonement the High Priest confessed his sins, and the sins of the people, made a sacrifice, and then went in and sprinkled blood, from the sacrifice, onto the Ark…
The Veil was purple, blue, and scarlet, and fine twined linen of cunning work, and with Cherubims... Maybe they represent the cherubims that were set outside of the Garden of Eden after man sinned and had to leave... those also stood between where God dwelt and where man dwelt...
So the veil separates man from God…. And you remember when Jesus died on the cross, He said, “It is finished”… and He hung His head and died… and the sky turned dark... and boom, the earth shook, and the veil of the temple, which was the same, symbolically, as this veil, tore… from the top to the bottom… (see Matthew 27:51) God tore it from heaven to the earth, because thanks to the sacrifice of the perfect Lamb of God, Jesus… we can now go directly to God… through Jesus, nothing now separates us from God….
Having therefore brethren, boldness to enter into the Holiest by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way, which He hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, His flesh. Hebrews 10:19, 20
SO….. “I offer You the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity, of Your Dearly Beloved Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, in Atonement for our sins and those of the Whole World….”
